1965 Shelby
GT350
1 of only 562 Shelby Mustangs
built in 1965. The '65 Shelby is the one that
started it all. With the "race on Sunday and sell
on Monday" mentality, Ford entered into an
agreement with Carroll Shelby to produce a Mustang
that would fit within the SCCA rules and enable
the Mustang to compete against the Corvette in the
Sports Car arena. Ford supplied Shelby with 100
Mustangs which were referred to as "knock-down"
models. These Mustangs were all equipped with the
271hp 289 cubic inch V-8 as well as all being
White with Black interiors. Once the cars were
shipped to Shelby's L.A. facility, the
transformation would begin. This is the 472nd
Shelby to be produced. It is equipped with the
Shelby modified 289 V-8 producing 306 horsepower
and unique suspension components that helped these
cars compete on the race track. The GT350 is
topped with two Blue Lemans stripes and fitted
with 15" Cragar Mag wheels. This Shelby has been
treated to a full restoration and is currently in
excellent condition. The '65 Shelby has long been
one of the most desirable Shelby's to own and
continues to become more and more
coveted.
