1966 Shelby GT350H

As a result of an aggressive marketing effort Shelby teamed up with Hertz Rent-A-Car to offer the GT-350H as a new addtion to the Hertz high performance rental fleet. 1000 cars were ordered, most equipped with the now famous black and gold stripes and automatic transmissions. This well documentd and fully registered Shelby American Automobile Club Hertz edition Shelby is unique in the rare combination of color (Wimbleton White with gold LeMans stripes) and transmission (four speed manual). An early production serial number place the build run within the first 100 cars sent to Hertz Rent-A-Car Agency. Approximately half of this first shipment order were equipped with four speed gear boxes, the remaining half with the optional automatic transmissions. Although the exact figures are not known, as a result of Shelby American providing the automatics at no additional cost to Hertz, simply doing the math alone will result in the extremely rare combination that is represented in this car. Restored to award winning condition by Concours Restorations of Southern California, this particular Shely set a world record price when sold to a celebrity Japanese ball player owner. Equipped with the optional wood steering wheel, original and correct dash mounted tachometer, and Magnum 500 chrome wheels, the mechanicals have been proven excellent having recently driven over 1000 miles on a southwest rally tour with no difficulty whatsoever. The outstanding condition of the paintwork shows as new. The gold stripes were backmasked into the Wimbleton white body color and then clear coated to eliminate the usual ridge of the stripe and complete the stunning show winning effect of being undetectable to the touch. This is not a clone but an original Shelby. The speedometer is in kilometers adding further value to the already pristine automobile.
