Vehicle Description

I'm listing this fine Shelby once more in the hopes of attracting a QUALIFIED bidder/buyer. Please, no dreamers. Please don't bid on this item if you have no intentions of following through. I am disclosing the reserve as being well below $65K (that's nearly $10K below the most recent appraised value of this automobile).

I am listing the car for my employer who has owned the car since 1975, and I am handling the sale for him. I am not a dealer, and prefer not to deal with brokers/dealers unless they have their facts and finances in order.

This is a beautiful, low mileage (32.5K ORIGINAL miles), low production number (#270) GENUINE Shelby with only 3 owners (present owner has had it for nearly 28 years), priced below current appraisal & market value.

This car is only on it's second set of tires EVER and still has all of it's ORIGINAL sheet metal (check out the other Shelbys out there and see if they can boast THAT fact). This is a straight, accident free original GT500 (not some cobbled together resto car full of replacement panels and parts). This is truly the real deal and you can purchase it for the price of one of those unoriginal resto cars!

Submitted for your consideration; the opportunity to own this genuine, low mileage 1967 427 Shelby GT500 COBRA, Shelby VIN 67400F5A00270, original Ford VIN (found underneath Shelby VIN) 7R (or possibly "B") 02Q146888. Dealer swap/installed 427 engine date stamped 6K14.

The third owner has enjoyed this beautiful automobile for nearly 28 years and is offering this fine example of classic SHELBY muscle to qualified bidders. This rare automobile has been stored throughout the fall/winter/spring seasons, and only driven occasionally to local  events in the Detroit area during the summer months. This is not a trailer car, but as close to a "survivor" as you may find.

This is a GENUINE 427 "side oiler" 4 bolt main engine, (factory date stamped 6K14-November 14th, 1966),  NOT the typical 428. It's coupled with the (original) (in)famous C-4 Toploader tranny.  Since Shelby and his affiliated dealerships kept little or no records regarding the dealer installed 427 cars sold, this car stands as a fine physical example.

Since this car was purchased by the present owner in 1975, long before certain documents &info were important, we have no build sheet or invoice (though a reprint of the invoice is obtainable).Rest assured that all numbers are verifiably correct, and the car is listed with the Shelby Registry.

A 1987 Concours de Elegance at Meadowbrook entry, this beautiful car has been featured in many events (by invitation from FORD) in the Detroit area, including "REVIN' WITH FORD" (4 consecutive years) and "THE MUSTANG DRIVE-INN" and is always a crowd pleaser.

Inspected and appraised 12 months ago by Classic Auto Showplace Ltd. in Detroit at over $70K, it stands proudly as an investment quality automobile, continually appreciating in value and appeal.

If you've been in the market for a quality, GENUINE Shelby GT, look no further. Bid to win!

Please email me with any questions that you may have.

may consider arranging viewing of car for very serious, qualified bidders.

Vehicle Condition

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL CAR WITH UNDER 33,000 ORIGINAL MILES! NO BONDO, FILLER OR REPLACED SHEET METAL ANYWHERE.!EVERY FACTORY WELD IS CORRECT. The Shelby Registry shows this particular car as being completed on 01/05/67. Only being production #270, it has a few features not found on later models (such as functional brake cooling ducts & rare concave gas cap). It went from the Shelby factory in California to Bronder Motor Sales in Toledo, Ohio on 10/10/67 where it was purchased by the first owner. The present owner purchased the car 1975 from the 2nd owner (who only owned it for a very short period of time and sold it due to a job lay-off) . The engine was rebuilt, balanced & blue-printed in 1977 (at around 19K miles)by N & S Automotive in Royal Oak, Michigan. The engine and bay are clean and nicely detailed, as is the trunk and under carriage. The car was repainted the original/correct color and stripe combo in 1978. The car was never stripped to bare metal, as it was a low mileage, accident/rust free car.  The paint currently has very slight flaws due to age (they aren't even photographable) and there are very fine spider cracks in the back corners of the fiberglass hood (typical) only visable under the closest of scrutiny. The car still has a very deep luster and shine and while may not be Concours quality, it is very presentable and correct.

The original Philco AM radio (included) was replaced with a AM/FM stereo cassette. The carbs, oil pan and shifter (still have the original ivory shifter ball) have also been replaced with non-original componants. A electric fuel pump w/emergancy cut-off was installed, as were 6X9 speakers in the rear.  Front suspension bushings/rubber pieces replaced 2 years ago.

The interior is gorgeous and  nearly mint, excepting a 1 1/2 inch, repairable seam split on the drivers seat. The carpets were replaced in the 70's . All is correct, and outside of the carpets, replaced radio/speakers and 2 additional guages mounted under the dash (easily removable with no damage), all is ORIGINAL.

This car is wearing it's second set of tires (EVER) which were put on in the late 70's. Winner should consider replacing them with a new set.

This rare SHELBY looks, runs & drives as it should, and maybe better thanks to a finely tuned, balanced and blueprinted 427 side-oiler (a higher reving & tuffer motor than the 428) with around 15K miles on the professional rebuild,  (see above discription). The car is a solid, conservative 8 1/2 out of 10 and only temporarily devalued by the minor modifications and correctable cosmetic deficiencies mentioned.
