You are bidding on a
67 Shelby GT 500 project car VIN # 67410F7A00806.This car is
the real deal and includes significant NOS parts. The
Shelby registry
says this car started life as a lime green GT 500 with the
following options: black interior, desirable inboard
headlights, 10 spoke wheels and Traction Lok 9” rearend. Also
featured functional brake ducts, PDB and P/S. Numerous and
valuable NOS parts include: Shelby seat belts new in box (set
of 4), New inertia reel belts (these belts alone are probably
worth $2000.00 +), new fenders and r/h qtr skin in Ford bags,
fender emblem, both front inner fender aprons, front inner
fender splash shields etc. . Many other new pieces of metal
are included but I cannot identify them as NOS pieces. These
include rear inner fender aprons, floor pans, battery tray and
hold down, core support, rear splash shields.
Now to the current
condition of the car, the car will need a complete restoration
including extensive sheet metal replacement. Fortunately the
car does not appear to have been hit and the rocker panels are
solid so this will be a case of drilling and replacing panels,
most of which are included. Here is a list of what I believe
will need to be replaced: l/h front frame rail and shock
tower, inner fender aprons, floor pans (partially complete but
not up resto standards) patch outer firewall outside of fender
apron, trunk drop offs both sides, filler panel behind gas
tank . Both rear lower qtr panels were patched in rear lower
area during a prior repaint and will have to be redone
correctly. R/H could be replaced with supplied factory qtr
although this would not seem necessary.
Most
Shelby components
are present on the car including: factory wood steering wheel,
roll bar, correct gauge cluster, etc. There are a couple of
parts missing though. These include under dash gauges, hood
and the Shelby
front nose. The hood and front apron are available
reproduction or you could put Eleanor pieces on the car. This
could quite possibly give you the only Eleanor based on a real
GT 500!
This car was at one
time converted to a GT 350 with a small block and matching
emblems. That engine is now gone and a correct casting # 428
block (C6ME-A), C7AE heads, dual quad intake casting C7ZX with
matching S7MS air cleaner assy. The carbs are not correct but
are Ford numbered as follows COAF-9510-N. Also includes
exhaust manifolds casting # C7OF. The engine was bored .030
and appears to have been run before it got new rings and
bearings. A rod and main cap was pulled and new Cleavite 77
rod and main bearings were not marked as undersized so it
appears as a standard crankshaft. Heads have been completely
reconditioned and feature new valves and hard seats both
intake and exhaust sides. Valve covers are correct open letter
cobra and were only featured on 67 GT 500’s as far as I know.
The short block has been sitting for an undetermined amount of
time and should be disassembled and cleaned before running. A
C-6 trans is also installed and has correct floor shift
linkage attached.
The interior is in
surprisingly good condition: dash pad is good, the seats are
good except for a small hole in driver seat upper corner and a
crack in rear plastic cover. Door panels will have to
replaced, these are the correct deluxe panels and trim is
complete.
Overall this is a very
restorable car with almost all the hard to find parts intact.
Finished these cars regularly bring in excess of $60,000
dollars here on e-bay. This will place a 67 500 within the
reach of a lot of people who cannot afford that price and
aren’t afraid of doing the work required to achieve a
dream!
