Description |

1965 Shelby #041,
the 41st of the 562 cars produced for 1965 and one of the
first 50 cars built by Carrol Shelby at his original shop in
Venice, California. These highly sought after, collectible,
early production cars are seldom ever offered for sale. The
'65 Shelby is everyman's dream car, a true factory hot rod.
This is not a clone, a carry over, or a Hertz car, this is one
of the first hundred cars produced in late '64 and early '65.
041 went through a comprehensive, professional restoration in
1988 and has only clocked 2600 miles since. The car is correct
in every way. The correct, original 100% fiberglass hood with
the round hole & correct wire mesh, the correct springless
hinges, prop rod, K motor, tri-y headers, Cobra hi rise
manifold, Cobra buddy bar aluminum valve covers, aluminum T
sump oil pan, 725cfm Holley carb, side exit exhaust, 9" rear
axle w/ 3:89 gears and Detroit Locker, rebound cables, Monte
Carlo bar, export brace, lowered front suspension, overrider
traction bars, correct package tray & inside mounted
spare, truck mounted battery, Koni shocks, 3" competition seat
belts, The correct dash pod with the Shelby tach and oil
pressure guage. The correct, original Nardi steering wheel,
toggle horn button. It's all here. The Ford consecutive unit
numbers match with the Shelby number as archived by the SAAC
club. The Shelby is currently fitted with a cast iron T-10
transmission with a Hurst shifter, but I have the original
ALUMINUM M1 T10 transmission with the correct original Ford
shift linkage on a display stand and it goes with the car. The
car also equipped with an original Shelby part # S1MR-61202-A
Competition Roll Bar. This car has participated in the Copper
State 1000 mile rally on two different occassions in the last
14 years and went wire to wire without a hitch, so it is not
only a stunning show car, but a reliable driver, also. The
tires are BFG TA's mounted on restored Cragar 5 spoke wheels.
The car lives in a temperature controlled environment and with
the exception of the above mentioned events has always been
stored indoors. The car is listed on page 378 of the Shelby
registry. It was also featured in Mustang Illustrated in
February of '92. You can own this car just in time for the
Sheby American Automobile Club's (SAAC 27) annual convention.
July 5,6,7 @ California Speedway in Fontana, California.
Please be patient while the photos download.
