Description |
|
1965 Shelby #041,
the 41st of the 562 cars produced for 1965 and one of the
first 50 cars built by Carroll Shelby at his original shop in
Venice, California. These highly sought after, collectible,
early production cars are seldom ever offered for sale. The
'65 Shelby is everyman's dream car, a true factory hot rod.
This is not a clone, a carry over, or a Hertz car, this is one
of the first one hundred cars produced in late '64 and early
'65. 041 went through a comprehensive, professional
restoration in 1989 and has only clocked 2600 miles since. The
car is correct in every way:
Correct, original 100% fiberglass hood with the round hole
& wire mesh
the correct springless hinges
prop rod
Hipo "K" motor
tri-y headers
Cobra hi rise intake manifold
Cobra buddy bar aluminum valve covers
Cobra aluminum T sump oil pan
715cfm Holley carb
side exit exhaust
9" rear axle w/ 3:89 gears and Detroit Locker
rebound cables
Monte Carlo bar
export brace
lowered front suspension
overrider traction bars
correct package tray & inside mounted spare
trunk mounted battery
Koni, adjustable shock absorbers
3" competition seat belts,
Correct dash guage pod with Shelby tach and oil pressure
guage
Correct, original 16", 9 rivet Cobra steering wheel
dash mount toggle horn push
It's all here. The Ford consecutive unit numbers match with
the Shelby number as archived by the SAAC club. The Shelby is
currently fitted with a cast iron T-10 4 speed transmission
with a Hurst shifter, but I have the original ALUMINUM M1 T10
transmission with the correct original Ford shift linkage on a
display stand and it goes with the car. The car also equipped
with an original Shelby, part # S1MR-61202-A, Competition Roll
Bar. This car has participated in the Arizona Copper State
1000 mile rally on two different occassions and went wire to
wire without a hitch, which is testimony to the fact it is not
only a stunning show car, but a dependable, reliable, well
sorted driver, also. The tires are BFG TA's mounted on 5
restored Cragar 5 spoke wheels. Paint and body was done by a
well known Arizona Custom Shop and is as nice today as it was
when it was painted in 1989. The car lives in a temperature
controlled environment and with the exception of the above
mentioned events has always been stored indoors. The car is
listed on page 378 of the Shelby registry. It was also
featured in Mustang Illustrated in February of '92. You can
own this car just in time for the Sheby American Automobile
Club's (SAAC 27) annual convention. July 5,6,7 @ California
Speedway in Fontana, California. This is a 3 day auction so
you have time to be high bidder, fly in, buy the car and still
make it to SAAC 27 with your new treasure. Please be patient
while the photos download.
