This
is a legitimate 1968 Shelby GT350 "California Black Plate"
car that is in excellent condition both mechanically and
cosmetically. The Shelby is a rare automobile on it's
own, but when coupled with the "born and raised in
California" fact, you are talking about a solid, rust free
Shelby... even rarer yet. Close inspection of the
photos will reveal a very clean, well restored automobile
that is perfect for the collector wanting to drive a Shelby
Mustang. Please see below for a more detailed
description of this car. Please note that the original
build sheet does go with this car. Also, the seller
has a file an inch thick with receipts and such, documenting
this car all the way back to 1978.
Subframe:
The underside of this Shelby is
very clean and very solid. The subframe is rust rot
free and the car appears to never have been in a
wreck. The floor boards are as solid as you would
expect from a California car. The car has never seen
the weather of the mid-west or the streets they drive
on... The trunk pan is solid as well.
Body:
The body is exceptional on this
car. All the gaps and panels line up very well as they
did from factory. The seller notes that when the car
was restored, the car was properly prepped before being
sprayed with paint. In other words, the car was
professionally blocked and sanded prior to paint.
Paint:
The paint on this car is not new but
it retains a high gloss finish as the photos depict.
The paint isn't show condition but it is very presentable
for anyone looking to actually drive the car.
Beautiful paint ready to go without need of restoration or
repaint.
Interior:
The interior of this car is in
like new condition. The interior doesn't have any
flaws to speak of according to the seller... It looks
new. All the gauges and interior lights work and
function properly as they did new from factory.
Engine:
The engine is the original, "born
in the car", from the factory. The seller states the
car currently has 351 Cleveland heads but he has the
original heads that go with the car. It also has new
Holley carburetor and Hedman headers. The engine was
rebuilt during the restoration.
Transmission:
The trans is the original
automatic, "born in the car", and it was rebuilt during the
restoration. The transmission shifts smooth yet crisp
as they should...
Rear End:
Stock rear end in great working
condition.
Suspension and Brakes and Exhaust:
The
suspension and brakes were gone through just as everything
else during the restoration process. Currently the
brakes will stop you quickly and the ride is as good as it
gets. Exhaust was also done at the time of restoration
and it is in great shape. Bid with confidence, the car
needs no mechanical attention at this
time.
This car would be great for driving or showing on the
regional or local level. It is not a 400pt Concours
car but it is very presentable as you can see from the
photos. Bid with confidence free from the fear of
"hidden" surprises. What you see and what you read is
precisely what you will find at the time of your
inspection. Great luck eBayers!
