I am going to give
this one shot before I jump in with both feet and restore this
car myself, so here you go.......You are bidding on a VERY
RARE 1969 SHELBY GT500 Sportsroof. This car is an original
DRAG PACK, 4-speed, W-code 4.30 rear car. It was originally a
Candyapple Red car but was color changed to the Acapulco Blue
that you see on the car now. I'll post a picture of my other
GT500 as well as my brother's GT500 so you can see how it
would look returned to its original Red hue with either White
or Gold Stripes. These are for illustration purposes only and
are not a part of this auction. This car is apart for a
restoration, but is fairly complete. It has one of the best
bodies that I have seen in the last 20 years. It is very
straight and is 99% rust free. The
1/4's,doors,floors,rails,torque boxes, and trunk floors are
GORGEOUS in this car. The car was in a front end collision
years ago and and had the rails repaired and the front
fiberglass replaced. They used only genuine Shelby fiberglass
pieces to repair it.The fiberglass is all in very good to
excellent condition. The shifter hole has been cut for an
aftermarket shifter. It has been repaired but needs to be
re-done correctly. The black interior is near perfect and
original. Nice dash, seats, very good door panels, very good
console, side panels, etc. The only thing that required
replacing is the carpet which is new and included in this
auction. Car has a very nice Rim-Blow wheel with a
Tilt-Kickaway column. I have a NEW set of reproduction wheels
for the car and a Spacesaver Spare. It has a correct but
non-numbers matching 428 SCJ engine and RUG-AE Big Spline
transmission with it. I would freshen both while its apart.
The car retains it original W-code 4.30 31 Spline Nodular
Traction-Lok rear end. Car has its original Roll Bar, inertia
reels, and shoulder harnesses. Correct Console with switches
and aftermarket gauges.140 MPH Speedo and Tach assy. Correct
exhaust port and collector. Nice Bumpers,Foglights and Grille.
I have the original air cleaner with snorkel, exhaust
manifolds, and oil cooler assembly. I do not have a correct
carburetor, distributor, or any smog equipment. This is a RARE
OPPORTUNITY to obtain a VERY RARE, ROCK SOLID SHELBY!!! Most
of the available Shelby projects out there have been laying
out in the pasture for 20+ years and require more metal work
than most folks want to tackle. This is an easy restoration
because there is NO RUST repair to do. I have the Original
invoice and 2 build sheets with the car. This is an excellent
car to start with. According to Kevin Marti there were only
170 Drag Pack 1969 GT500's built this includes both 4-speed
& automatic as well as V & W axle code cars. How many
Red 4spd 4.30 rear cars do your think there were?????? This
SHELBY is as RARE and as SOLID as they come. If you have been
looking for a SHELBY project car then look no further, bid
often and bid to own this RARE MUSCLECAR. I WILL NOT REVEAL MY
RESERVE SO PLEASE DO NOT ASK!! I would entertain 69-70 Shelby
Convertible Driver or Boss 429 driver trades up or down I have
another GT500 and a 1970 Boss 429 I can sweeten any potential
trade deal with. Any trade must be mutually agreed upon before
auction ends. But please ask any questions before you bid, I
don't want any surprises for either one of us. Please be sure
you have the funds available to complete this transaction. I
expect a 25% deposit in cashier's check or money order form
within 3 days of auctions end and the balance in cash or
certified funds within 10 days of auctions end. This is a 30+
year old cart and as such is being auctioned in 'as-is,
where-is condition with no warranties expressed or implied.'
Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!
